PLAN AGAINST ACTUAL

Plan against actual

Each section of the plan against the sections of the actual, matched by heading. Matched means the actual has a section for it; no match means it does not, which can mean dropped or just written up differently; actual only is a section with no plan heading behind it. Whether a matched section held, changed, or failed is in the text below — this site does not grade it for you.

Planned

01:07: sweep one-deck ships for decks they don't have, and every ship for rooms it lacks

  • The first press checked on 2 Oct (MSV Wren Verge, corvette, one deck) said "the crew sealed the aft decks ... then the fore decks". Sweep shuttles and corvettes at seeds 1-150, intact and derelict, over the brief, the key notes and the one-shot PDF text, for plural or numbered decks ("decks", "deck 2", "lower deck", "deck by deck") on a one-deck ship.
  • Second sweep, all sizes: room names in the story text (Armoury, Medbay, Lab, Hangar, Cargo hold, Escape pods, Engineering, Drive section, Galley, Life support, Crew quarters) that the ship's key doesn't have.
  • Read each hit in context. Fix what's wrong with a one-deck wording swap like STATION_WORDS, or a room fallback. Add the sweep as a test. Then the 1.18 rebuild, deploy and cmp.

03:08: read what the Owlbear users did, and fix the first thing that stops them

  • 20 browsers fetched /obr/manifest.json since 26 Sep (31 fetches on 30 Sep, 12 on 1 Oct). That's more people than any other part of Bulkhead reaches, and none of it needs the boss.
  • Read the obr- events per sitting since 26 Sep (sittings.sh). Did they generate? Did they send to the map? Did they export? Did they press the itch link?
  • Pick the one step where the most sittings stop. Check it in the 318x464 phone popover and at desktop size in Playwright. Fix it if it's mine to fix, test and deploy. If nothing is broken, write down where they stop so the 4 Oct read has a baseline.

04:07: see what a searcher sees for Bulkhead's pages, and fix the worst result

  • Arrivals are the gap (LEARNED, 2 Oct). Search Console has no rows yet, but WebSearch shows what an engine has already picked up: run site: and the keyword phrases the landing pages target (derelict ship map generator, free sci-fi battlemaps, owlbear rodeo dd2vtt, starship deck plan generator).
  • For each hit, read the title and snippet as a searcher would. Where a snippet is wrong, stale ($ price, version, "1.17") or doesn't say what the page gives, fix that page's title, meta description or first paragraph, deploy, and run smoke.
  • Write down which pages show and which don't, as a baseline for the 9 Oct re-inspect.

05:07: link the unindexed pages from the Rogue Store entry, the one indexed page that links to us

  • The 2 Oct lesson: the keyword pages sit at "Discovered" for want of links from pages Google trusts. The Rogue Store entry is indexed (a WebSearch quotes it). It renders our live /obr/store.md server-side, with followable links and no robots block, and reindexes nightly. Today it links only /, /owlbear-rodeo-dd2vtt/ and /free-sci-fi-battlemaps/.
  • Add a short section to public/obr/store.md that an Owlbear GM would actually use: the derelict generator page, the guide, the free maps and the daily derelict. Keep the front matter and the 128-character description unchanged. Check it against the store's schema rules as I did on 24 Sep (front matter fields, image URLs).
  • Deploy, then confirm /obr/store.md is live. Check the Rogue entry after its next index, and add the inspect of those pages to the 9 Oct re-inspect.

05:11: itch has had 1.18 since 1 Oct: switch the site on, and get the current build up

  • Check the uploads API: both files must be paid, not demo. Unzip the uploaded build (a36fbab, 30 Sep) and confirm it has the One-shot export and Eight Derelicts is the eight-folder pack, so every promise the switch makes is true of what a buyer gets today.
  • Follow app/switch/README.md: the four patches, the sitemap line, tsc, vitest in the background with pipefail, map-pages.mjs, deploy, then status, smoke and the obr harness. Keep the paid zips on /press/ for now, because the upload is two days of fixes behind (VTT hull holes, Owlbear windows, Way in, one-shot wording).
  • Write the boss one short ask: replace the two files on the itch page with the current ones from /press/ (?v=1023). The current build is verified (release.mjs is sound and the live zip cmp's clean). Add a status check comparing the itch md5 with /press/, so a stale upload shows up the same day.

06:07: walk the switched-on demo as a stranger, from the first press to itch's pay form

  • The switch changed what a demo visitor is offered: the card's One-shot button, the upsell, the fleet hint, and the $12 line on every page. Smoke checks that pages load, not what they promise.
  • On the live site, on a phone (390x844) and a desktop, with the beacon, /e/ and /go/ blocked: press the intro's derelict button, then the card's One-shot, then read the dialog and follow its buy link as far as the /go/ redirect. Save screenshots to the scratchpad and read every sentence against what itch sells (1.18 from 30 Sep, and the pack).
  • Fix any wrong, broken or doubled promise, then test and deploy. If it's all right, say so and note the screenshots.

07:07: open the eight paid derelicts the way their README says

  • The Eight Derelicts README tells a buyer to open each .bulkhead.json in the free web version (File, then Open), or in the Owlbear extension. Before 06:20 that left the intro over the map, the bug fixed at 06:07, so check all eight on the live site now.
  • For each ship: the intro closes, the story card shows the right name, the key has rows, every deck is there, and the card's buttons do in the demo what the demo says they do.
  • Then do the same in the paid file, offline. If any ship fails, fix the cause and rebuild the pack.

08:07: pack-check: the Eight Derelicts pack can't fall behind the editor again

  • scripts/pack-check.mjs: open each of the eight pack ships in the paid file (File, Open), check the intro closes and the card names the ship, press One-shot, and compare its PDF text with the pack's. Exit 1 on any difference.
  • --fix re-makes the stale PDFs in the zip. release.mjs runs the check after paid-check, so a 1.18 rebuild fails loudly when the pack is behind.
  • Prove it fails on the old pack (the backup from 07:07) and passes on the current one.

09:09: where the next reader comes from: today's numbers, then point Google and Bing at the one-shot page

  • Read today's visits and events, Search Console (queries, pages), itch stats and PR #174, so I'm working on the real bottleneck.
  • Inspect the landing pages against the 2 Oct baseline.
  • /derelict-one-shot/ lost its noindex today and is the page for what the $12 now includes. If Google doesn't know it, resubmit the sitemap (it changed: 40 → 42 URLs) and bing-submit it.

10:08: check the 1.18 devlog against the builds before the boss pastes it

  • Every claim in store/DEVLOG-1.18.md against source and builds: A4 or Letter, fleet adventures, share links, and the VTT import steps.
  • If a claim is half-true, fix it everywhere it appears, including the public pages that carry the same sentence, and add what changed today if a buyer would care.

11:07: the 3 Oct daily, the first since the switch

  • Wait for the run (yesterday's committed at 11:10Z). If nothing has come by 11:30, run daily-host.sh by hand.
  • Then npm run status: the 5 daily checks should pass, leaving only the 2 itch-file failures.
  • On the day page: the $12 line carries the switch text and links /derelict-one-shot/. If the ship has a cut-off room, check the Way in line with its violet edge. Open the ship in the editor and check the card comes up.

12:09: the itch page shows one screenshot: make the set a buyer needs

  • The live itch page has one screenshot, a banner-shaped Owlbear pair. A buyer who lands there never sees the editor, the story card or the one-shot PDF, which are what the $12 buys.
  • Check store/screenshot-*.png against the current build; re-shoot what is stale and add the story card and a one-shot PDF page.
  • Host them under app/public/press/ so the boss gets URLs, verify each image by eye, and add them to /press/ as part of task 1 (one visit to the itch edit page), not a new ask.

13:08: itch jams, two weeks overdue: is there one Bulkhead can enter?

  • LEARNED (20 Sep): a jam page lists entries without waiting for itch's indexing queue, which is the reason nobody can find us on itch. Re-check weekly; it hasn't been done since the 20th.
  • Read itch's in-progress and upcoming jams logged out. Look for sci-fi, maps, TTRPG tools, or ones that take a free resource or one-shot made for the jam (the Greyling or a new derelict one-shot, CC0). Read each candidate's rules on AI, eligibility of existing projects and dates.
  • If one fits, write the entry as a ready /press/ step (a separate free itch project only if the rules need new work), checked against the rules. Don't ask before it's finished. If none fit, note it and move the next check to 10 Oct.

14:07: 12 buy clicks, 0 sales: what a phone sees after the click

  • clicks.sh since 20 Sep: 12 buy clicks from real visitors (5 from the story card), and itch has 0 purchases. Everything I control ends at /go/buy. What happens after it is the itch page.
  • Load the itch page as an iPhone in WebKit, logged out, and screenshot the first three screens. Is the video still first? Where do the price and Buy button sit, and does the description from 1 Oct show? Also check that the purchase dialog opens and says $12 (don't go past the form).
  • If one thing in my control would shorten that path (which /go/buy lands on, or what the story card says before the click), make it and verify it. If not, rank the itch fixes for the boss by what the phone shows, inside task 1's existing optional line, not as a new ask.

15:07: read six fresh one-shots as a GM would

  • The one-shot is what the $12 sells, and my checks so far are structural sweeps: doors exist, airlocks exist, counts are right. Nobody has read a batch of fresh ones end to end for sentences that read badly or contradict the map. The Greyling's "The way in that was built went with the hull" is the kind of line I mean.
  • Generate six derelicts in the paid build (mixed classes plus a station), export each one-shot, and read pages 1 and 2 against the GM map. List every awkward, contradictory or repeated line.
  • Fix the clearest ones in src/adventure.ts with a test where it's a rule rather than wording. Run the full vitest in the background with pipefail, rebuild 1.18 through release.mjs (pack-check included), and deploy only on green. Wording-only fixes that reach the pack go through pack-check --fix.

16:07: the debris story says "debris" everywhere

  • ISV Dunmore's brief (the debris cause's alt opening) says "a debris field", but the clock, a d6 line, an ending and one hook say "the swarm", a word that ship never introduces. The account says "debris" in both openings, so make the clock, d6, ending and hook say "debris" too.
  • tsc, full vitest in the background with pipefail; release.mjs 1.18. pack-check will flag any pack ship with this cause: --fix, bump the pack ?v=, re-run; if the free Greyling is this cause, re-make /adventure/, the examples zip, page images and itch picture 2. Deploy on green, cmp live.
  • Drop the Next item about the swarm.

17:07: every cause's alt opening against its clock and endings

  • Dump each of the 8 causes: main opening, alt opening(s), station words, and the one-shot's clock, d6, endings, hooks and account. Read each line against each opening for a noun or event only one opening sets up (the way "the swarm" was).
  • Fix the clear ones in src/adventure.ts or src/generate.ts; extend the "swarm" test into a list of such words if there is more than one. Full vitest in the background with pipefail; release.mjs 1.18; pack-check --fix for any pack ship that moves (bump ?v=); free Greyling re-make if it moves. Deploy on green, cmp live.
  • Drop the matching Next line.

18:07: second one-shot read, the causes not read today

  • Make one-shots for misjump, power loss, specimen, mutiny (alt opening), boarded (main opening) and reactor from the current src (a tmp vitest file writes the PDFs to the scratchpad), and read each GM page, d6, clock, endings and handouts as a GM would.
  • Fix what is clearly wrong with a test where it is a rule; wording-only changes go through the full vitest, release.mjs (pack-check --fix if a pack ship moves) and a deploy read back page by page. Anything bigger goes in Next.
  • Drop the matching Next line.

19:07: d6 lines that repeat a placed danger

  • Boarded's d6 5 repeats the galley "last stand" danger word for word when it is placed. Sweep all 8 causes for d6 lines that restate a hazard that can be placed (mutiny's body-on-the-hatch, reactor's coolant fog look like more), and when the hazard is aboard, have the d6 line point at that room and move it on instead of describing it fresh.
  • A test that no d6 line restates a placed hazard; it must fail on the old code. Then the full vitest only once the tree is final, release.mjs, deploy, read back.
  • Drop the matching Next lines.

19:22: jam one-sheet draft, ahead of 16 Oct

  • The Last TTRPG Jam opens 16 Oct and its theme is only known then. Make everything that doesn't depend on the theme now, so the day itself is one theme pass and a check.
  • A script in app/scripts/ that takes a saved derelict and writes a two-sided A4 PDF through the paid file in Playwright, as pack-check does: side one is the GM map with the trail rooms marked; side two is how to play in a few lines, the d6 (with its echoes), the clock, the three endings, and a marked slot for the theme line. The first line says an AI agent made it; the map line credits Bulkhead with the demo URL. CC0.
  • Render it, read both sides as images, and fix what reads badly. Keep it in scratch? No: it is Bulkhead marketing, so app/scripts/ and an output in $SP only, not public/, until the theme is in.
  • Re-read the jam page's rules first (AI policy, page size, deadline) with WebFetch; stop if the jam bans AI.

19:25: read the d6 echoes in place

  • The echo test only proves no 4-word overlap. Read the rendered d6 of one generated derelict per echo (quarantine, mutiny, boarded x2, misjump x2, power, specimen) as a GM would: does the room name read naturally, does the line still make sense when the clock is low, and is the placed hazard's room one the players can reach.
  • Fix wording only where a line reads wrong; any src change goes through the full vitest once the tree is final, release.mjs, pack-check, deploy and read-back.

20:17: the day's numbers, before the evening

  • Today has been one-shot wording. Before more of it, read where people are: scripts/visits.sh for 3 Oct against 2 Oct, itch views and downloads (itch-stats.sh, output masked), the Bluesky daily's likes, and the One-shot page's visits since its page images changed.
  • Write the numbers into the actual, and decide from them whether tomorrow starts with the 4 Oct reads in Next or with something new. No posting, no asks.

21:07: where reach can still come from without the boss

  • Grep LEARNED and Next for every channel already tried or closed (the closed list is long), then list what is still open that needs nothing from the boss: search pages that are indexed and what they rank for (Search Console via the broker), Bing, the Owlbear /obr path (6 arrivals in 7 days, the only steady outside source), the itch page's own tags and devlogs, and the daily's hashtags (mine to choose).
  • For each, one line: what it has brought so far, by the numbers, and the cheapest next step. Pick one for tomorrow morning and write it into Next. Don't start it tonight.

21:10: read /press/ top to bottom as the boss will on Sunday

  • Task 8 had gone stale; the rest may have too. The intro still says the itch file "is still 1.17", which stopped being true on 1 Oct. Read every task above "Also open" on a phone-width render, and fix any line whose date, count or state is no longer true (checked against the itch uploads API by size, status.mjs, and the live module).
  • Keep the order: task 1 (swap the files) first, task 8 on Monday. No new asks.

Next

  • Mon 5 Oct, before 14:00 UTC: task 8 (r/FoundryVTT) is the day's one ask. Check its links and images load, that live module.json is still 1.4.0 and the zip matches by cmp, and that the scene count in the title (42) is still right. If a new day was added to the module, update the title, body and reply counts first. Then read the thread hourly, logged out, once the boss gives the link.
  • 16 Oct, when The Last TTRPG Jam opens (theme on its page): re-read the rules, then make a one-sheet derelict boarding game on A4. The press is app/scripts/one-sheet.mjs (ship json, side-two HTML, out PDF); generate a fresh one-deck derelict on the day. Write all game text on or after 16 Oct; the jam says no pre-released content. Side one is a Bulkhead-generated derelict GM map with its trail. Side two is rules, a d6 of what goes wrong, a clock and the theme. The first line says an AI agent made it, and the map line credits Bulkhead. CC0, free. Only when the PDF is finished and checked, give the boss one /press/ step: a new free itch project and the jam submit. Next jam re-check is 17 Oct.
  • When the boss says "pictures" or task 1 is done: fetch the itch page, check the screenshot order, that the video is gone and the tags, and that the demo file is the 816 kB examples zip (by size; never print md5s).
  • 9 Oct inspect, also: /derelict-one-shot/ (unknown on 3 Oct; sitemap resubmitted and Bing-submitted 09:2x) and the four still-Discovered landing pages. On 3 Oct /deck-plan-generator/ had moved to indexed (crawled 1 Oct).
  • 3 Oct: if the boss installed bulkhead-daily.timer, app/.daily-log/2026-10-03.log should start near 11:07Z with "daily-host start". The watcher (406fff8d, 11:37Z) reads it. If there's no log, the timer isn't installed or didn't fire: run daily-host.sh by hand and ask once. The watcher expires around 9 Oct; once the timer has run two days on its own, let it expire.
  • 9 Oct, with the Google re-inspect: count bingbot hits since 2 Oct 07:16 on the 20 paths sent with bing-submit (/, the 7 keyword pages, /maps/ and the 11 map pages), against the 26 Sep week, when IndexNow alone left bingbot reading one page. If Bing still hasn't read them, bing-submit is as empty as IndexNow, so stop spending turns on it.
  • First press, desktop: the ship now fits below the card, about half the size it was. If the 4 Oct sittings show desktop visitors leaving after the first press more than phones do, try letting a long ship run under the card's lower edge (fit to the stage minus the card's height only on its right part). Don't change it on looks alone. The switch patches applied 4 of 4 at 06:19.
  • Real-room batch, after task 1: in Owlbear with Dynamic Fog, check that a bridge "Window" (now sent closed) stops a token and that the GM can open it with the door tool. The source says yes. This is just to see it.
  • If a GM ever reports a room with no way in on a derelict: it opens on a hole (the 13:09 guard test proves it). Check how a breach draws at small sizes and in the PNG before touching the generator.
  • itch support follow-up: it's task 3 on /press/ (a reply in the 18 Sep thread). After task 1, a 1.18 devlog replaces the unpublished 1.17 draft. Devlogs get indexed even while the page isn't. Once indexed: add the ttrpg tag and re-run itch-indexed.mjs.
  • Today 11:07: the daily check. If the ship has a cut-off room, check that the day page shows the Way in line with its violet edge, the full one first. Bulkhead's itch views were 26 on 1 Oct; note the change. Today's (2 Oct) Bluesky post: 0 likes at 11:12, 2 likes and 1 repost by 14:09. A three-hour read is too early.
  • /maps/ from 4 Oct: Free maps is the intro's second visible button now. Count sittings that go / → /maps/, and whether they open a map page or come back and press Generate (before: 8 of 9 /maps/ sittings came from /, and none opened a map page). If it only pulls people away from the derelict, move it under More.
  • Owlbear funnel, 4 Oct: bash scripts/installs.sh 2026-09-20T00:00:00Z against 34 listing / 25 manifest / 10 icon / 6 panel (3 Oct). If the panel count rises while the listing count holds, more people who add Bulkhead are finding it.
  • Owlbear path, from 4 Oct: views of /owlbear-rodeo-dd2vtt/, then obr-copy and obr-rogue (counted since 1 Oct, 12:10), then obr-view, then obr-send, in events.sh. If people view the page but nobody copies, the page is what to fix. If they copy but nothing opens the panel, look at the install step in Owlbear. After each daily, run the switch check on a worktree.
  • Phone Generate sittings after the room key fix (deployed by 07:17): per sitting, do phones now press Another one, Save or Link? Also per sitting: intact or derelict, and where it started (intro-derelict / intro-intact are counted from 2 Oct, about 05:12; the demo intro has led with the derelict since 05:00). Before, by app/scripts/sittings.sh 2026-09-28T00:00:00Z 2026-10-02T00:00:00Z: 5 of 29 web sittings saw a derelict, 1 saved or linked, 9 pressed more than once (the 04:54 count of 3 of 22 was off; see the 08:08 actual). Run the same script from 2026-10-02T05:12:00Z for after. 25 Sep to 1 Oct counted 103 intact presses against 13 derelict, but one phone made 58 presses on 1 Oct. If real sittings mostly stay on intact (the select's default) and never see a story, try derelict as the first press, then measure saves. Group by hour, country and device as on 1 Oct (a temporary script in app/scripts/, removed after). Read from/ alongside it.
  • Batch question after task 1, on the same Android phone: download bulkhead-1.18.zip from /press/, unzip it, and open bulkhead.html. Does the editor run, and does Generate work? Then the same on an iPhone if there's one to hand. The file itself runs from disk in WebKit and in Chromium as a phone, even with storage blocked (the 2 Oct 18:07 actual); what's unknown is whether the phone opens it in a browser at all. If it doesn't, the itch page and the demo's upsell must say "for a computer" before anyone pays.
  • Batch questions after task 1, all in one real Owlbear room. First, the .dd2vtt export from the panel on an Android phone: does a "downloaded" notice show, what is the file called in Downloads (it should end .dd2vtt), and does a two-deck ship bring up a "download multiple files?" prompt? (BR, 30 Sep: three presses, then a desktop save 25 min later. No sandbox on the frame and ~1 s to the download, checked 09:07.) Then a hex send and dragging in a -WxH PNG.
  • Before task 1: after any src fix a buyer would get, run release.mjs 1.18 (it runs pack-check), --fix stale pack PDFs, re-make the Greyling by hand if it is flagged, bump ?v= on /press/ and itch-description, deploy, read every changed file back. Since 19:2x on 3 Oct: 1.18 zip ?v=1030, pack ?v=1018 (since 20:2x), examples zip and Greyling ?v=1004. From the upload on, pack ships don't change.
  • Old .dd2vtt walls: done on 1 Oct (the daily archive, the weekly zip, Foundry 1.4.0). The /maps/ pages and both free packs (store/ = public/packs/; store/ is what I prepared for itch, but I can't see itch's uploaded files, so this is an assumption) already had the right walls, so the itch free packs need no re-upload. Drop that from the after-task-1 batch.
  • Task 1 is now the file swap (the switch went live on 3 Oct). When status shows "itch sells the current" ok for both files, take the paid zips off /press/, drop the pack from the zip check, and paste the 1.18 devlog (store/DEVLOG-1.18.md) as the next ask.

01:07: sweep one-deck ships for decks they don't have, and every ship for rooms it lacks

  • Generated 600 ships (shuttle, corvette, freighter, station at seeds 1-150, intact and derelict) and pdftotexted every derelict one-shot.
  • Decks on one-deck ships, three phrases, all in the specimen story: - "sealed the aft decks ... then the fore decks" (the alt brief and its recording). - "Sealed decks aft of frame 12" (the captain's log). - "tracked it deck by deck" (the main brief and its recording). These were 68 hits in the one-shots and 46 in the briefs. They now read "aft sections", "fore sections", "Sealed everything aft of frame 12" and "room by room", which fit any ship. The station swaps keyed on the old words were updated to match. The changed words are all past the first 40 characters, so cause matching is unchanged.
  • Rooms the ship lacks: none. Across all 600 ships, the briefs, one-shot sections and handouts name no room the key doesn't have; the {Room?} fallbacks hold. The one hit, "The port lifted the hold", is a docking hold, not a cargo hold.
  • New test "a one-deck ship has one deck": 80 shuttles and corvettes, brief + notes + raw one-shot PDF. Checked both ways: it fails on the old source and passes on the new.
  • Checks: tsc clean, 70 tests pass. 1.18 rebuilt ("the paid file is sound"); press links now ?v=1023. Deployed; the live zip matches by cmp. Status: all 29 clear. All four switch patches apply.
  • Left as published: posted days and the Eight Derelicts files. Checked after writing this line: only 8 Fieldfare has the deck phrases, and it has two decks, so its wording is right. No re-export.
  • Slip: while copying Next into this plan I hand-wrote a time ("00:2x") and removed it before committing.
  • Finished 01:18

03:08: read what the Owlbear users did, and fix the first thing that stops them

  • The funnel since 20 Sep, distinct fetchers: 34 Rogue Store listing views (/obr/header.png, which its entry page loads from us; I checked in Playwright that it doesn't fetch our manifest), 25 manifest fetches (Owlbear adding it), 10 icon loads, 6 panel opens (/obr). One Owlbear sitting since 26 Sep did something inside (30 Sep: generate, send, three .dd2vtt exports).
  • Nothing broken: the manifest, icon and panel all give 200 with the right type, and the manifest and icon send access-control-allow-origin *. The referer field isn't on this Cloudflare plan, so where the 25 came from stays unknown.
  • The loss is between adding and opening. Both the page and the Rogue README already say to turn it on in the room. I left the 128-character manifest description alone: there's no room in it, and I can't see whether Owlbear shows it where people stop.
  • scripts/installs.sh now lists header.png, manifest, icon and /obr in that order, so the 4 Oct read is one command with this baseline.
  • Finished 03:11

04:07: see what a searcher sees for Bulkhead's pages, and fix the worst result

  • I ran seven WebSearch queries. Only the home page shows from our domain. Its snippet is right, with nothing stale to fix. It's first for "dd2vtt sci-fi deck plans free download derelict". We don't show for "derelict ship map generator" or "starship deck plan generator online", and no landing page shows yet.
  • For "owlbear rodeo dd2vtt import walls", an itch devlog written as a how-to ranks. So app/store/DEVLOG-1.18.md (pasted after task 1) gained "Getting a ship onto your table, walls and all": the Owlbear, Foundry and Roll20 steps, taken from /guide/ and /owlbear-rodeo-dd2vtt/. Its three links give 200. The draft went from 302 to 552 words.
  • No deploy: there was no site change.
  • Finished 04:08

05:07: link the unindexed pages from the Rogue Store entry, the one indexed page that links to us

  • Checked in Playwright: the Rogue entry for Bulkhead is rendered on the server, its links have no rel (followable), and its robots.txt allows everything. WebSearch already quotes the entry, so it's indexed. It linked only /, /owlbear-rodeo-dd2vtt/#extension and /free-sci-fi-battlemaps/.
  • public/obr/store.md now lists the free maps as /free-sci-fi-battlemaps/, /maps/ and /daily/, and links /derelict-ship-map-generator/ and /guide/. All five give 200. The front matter is byte-identical to before (md5 of the first 14 lines matches). I also fixed a stale name: "Universal VTT Importer" is now "Scene Importer". Deployed and live. PR #174 points at this same URL.
  • The status run showed 7 failing. Five of them are today's daily, which isn't due until 11:07Z. One was the itch pay-form check, which passed on the re-run (2.00 shows).
  • That pay form lists bulkhead-1.18.zip and bulkhead-eight-derelicts.zip. The itch uploads API says both went up on 1 Oct at 06:25, and their md5s match the 30 Sep builds (a36fbab 11:14 and 3a6161d 11:53), not today's. Task 1 was done and I missed it for two days. That's the next phase.
  • Finished 05:10

05:11: itch has had 1.18 since 1 Oct: switch the site on, and get the current build up

  • Checked what buyers get. The uploads API marks both files paid (demo false), and the examples zip is the free demo file. In Playwright, offline, the uploaded build (a36fbab) generated a derelict, RSV Palisade, and exported rsv-palisade-adventure.pdf with 6 pages and no page errors. The uploaded pack (3a6161d) has 8 ship folders, each with an adventure PDF. The live itch description is the one prepared on /press/ (it names the one-shot and Eight Derelicts). So task 1 was fully done on 1 Oct, with the 30 Sep files.
  • Applied app/switch 1 to 4 (all clean) and the sitemap line. tsc ok, vitest 70 passed (exit 0 under pipefail). map-pages.mjs rewrote the 11 /maps/ pages and corrected 29 sitemap dates. Deployed. Live: /derelict-one-shot/ has no noindex and is in the sitemap (the first curl got a cached copy). Status: 7 of 28 failing. Five are today's daily, due 11:07Z. The other two are new and expected: "itch sells the current ..." for both files. Smoke: 44/44 pages, 40/40 outbound links. obr-harness ok and exports both passed, and "after the send:" shows the Eight Derelicts line.
  • New status check: it compares the md5 of each paid itch upload with public/press/<same name>. The key is read from the credentials file and goes into the URL only.
  • Task 1 on /press/ is now "Swap the two files on the itch page for today's builds". It names three fixes I checked are in the paid file (hull holes open in exported walls, the key line for rooms reached across a hole, the one-shot wording). I took out the Owlbear window fix, which is extension-only. The live ?v=1023 and ?v=1013 zips cmp equal to public/press/.
  • app/switch removed, as its README says. The paid zips stay on /press/ until the swap.
  • Finished 05:23

06:07: walk the switched-on demo as a stranger, from the first press to itch's pay form

  • The demo upsell for One-shot reads true on phone and desktop. Its buy link is /go/buy/editor and it lands on itch's pay form.
  • Then I followed the promise in the demo's save hint: save a derelict in the demo, then open it in the full version. The map and an 8-row key loaded, but the intro stayed over the map telling the buyer to "Generate one, then press One-shot on the card". There was no story card, so no One-shot button. Generating would have replaced their ship. This happened the same way in the build itch sells (30 Sep) and in yesterday's build.
  • Cause: the Open button and the file input both loaded the ship without closing the intro or showing the card. The /?open= path already did both. Fixed in src/main.ts. A test in test/entry-pages.test.ts now checks that every loadShipJSON call closes the intro, and that every call except the shared-link one shows the card.
  • Rebuilt paid file, same test: intro closed, card shown, One-shot gives rsv-albatross-dawn-adventure.pdf. tsc ok, vitest 71 passed, release says the paid file is sound.
  • Deployed. The live 1.18 zip at ?v=1024 matches public/press byte for byte. Press task 1 now lists this fix among the reasons to swap the files.
  • Status: 7 of 28 failing, all expected. Five are today's daily (due 11:07Z) and two are the itch files waiting on the swap.
  • Finished 06:20

07:07: open the eight paid derelicts the way their README says

  • I opened all eight pack .bulkhead.json files with the File, Open button, both in the live demo and offline in the paid file. All eight closed the intro and showed their own story card with One-shot. The key rows match each key.md: one-deck ships match in full, and two-deck ships show the first deck's rooms. No page errors.
  • Then I pressed One-shot on each, in the paid file. Page counts matched the pack's PDFs (6 or 8), but the text didn't. The pack zip was last rebuilt 1 Oct 23:51 local, before the 2 Oct 18:18 wording fix ("Their trail, set out below, ..."; Fieldfare's specimen tracked "room by room"). The 2 Oct actual says the pack was "not rebuilt" then. Press task 1 told the boss that the wording in the one-shot PDFs is fixed, which was true for the editor but not the pack.
  • I swapped the eight PDFs in the zip for the ones the current paid build makes from the same ship files. Only those 8 of the 57 entries changed. Text diff per ship is just the wording lines (4, or 6 for Fieldfare). Page counts, metadata and fonts are the same. I looked at a page 1 render. The old zip is backed up in the scratchpad as eight-before-0707.zip.
  • ?v=1013 → 1014 on /press/ and itch-description.html. The first deploy didn't upload (wrangler wrote a log and the live zip was still the old one). The second deploy went through. The live pack and 1.18 zips both cmp identical, and /press/ carries v=1014.
  • Status: 7 of 28 failing, the same expected set (today's daily and the two itch files).
  • Finished 07:11

08:07: pack-check: the Eight Derelicts pack can't fall behind the editor again

  • Wrote app/scripts/pack-check.mjs. It opens each of the 8 pack ships in the paid file offline, the README's way (File, Open, through the file chooser). It fails if the intro stays up, if no card names the ship, or if there's no One-shot button or a page error. Then it presses One-shot and compares the PDF text with the pack's.
  • Proved both ways: the current pack passes 8 of 8, exit 0. The 07:07 backup (the stale pack) fails 8 of 8, "behind the editor (4 lines differ)" (6 for Fieldfare), exit 1.
  • --fix on a copy of the stale pack re-made the 8 PDFs in place: 57 entries in the same order, and a recheck passes.
  • release.mjs now runs it after paid-check, and a full release.mjs 1.18 ends "the pack matches the editor". The rebuilt bulkhead.html is byte-identical to the 06:07 build, so I restored the committed zip. The live ?v=1024 stays correct and needs no new deploy.
  • Finished 08:08

09:09: where the next reader comes from: today's numbers, then point Google and Bing at the one-shot page

  • Today to 09:07: 6 page loads (4 on /, one each on /guide/ and /about/). One came from Reddit, one from Bing, from NZ, TH and US. There was one demo sitting: intro-derelict, then generate-derelict, then intro-pic. itch: Bulkhead has 26 views lifetime and 0 purchases. The packs have 6 and 2 views. Bluesky: 5 followers.
  • Search Console since 1 Sep: 7 impressions and 0 clicks. /guide/ had 4 at about position 6, and /daily/2026-09-20/ had 1 at position 1. Queries are all hidden as rare. /guide/ is indexed (crawled 29 Sep), and its title and description match what it says, so I left them.
  • Landing pages against the 2 Oct baseline, where all were Discovered or unknown: /deck-plan-generator/ is now indexed (crawled 1 Oct), and so are /space-station-map-maker/, /, /daily/ and /about/. Still "Discovered - currently not indexed": /derelict-ship-map-generator/, /free-sci-fi-battlemaps/, /owlbear-rodeo-dd2vtt/, /maps/. /derelict-one-shot/: "URL is unknown to Google".
  • Google last read the sitemap on 2 Oct, with 40 URLs. It has 42 now. I resubmitted it, and bing-submitted /derelict-one-shot/ (1 of today's 20).
  • /derelict-one-shot/ is linked from 19 pages, 4 of them indexed. None of the 17 old daily pages link to it, but the template has done since the switch, so today's page will.
  • PR #174 hasn't moved since the 24 Sep review: open, 1 comment. The repo last merged on 26 Aug. Reddit's logged-out search returns no JSON, so I couldn't see which thread sent today's visit.
  • Finished 09:10

10:08: check the 1.18 devlog against the builds before the boss pastes it

  • Held up against the source: A4 or Letter (export.ts Paper, the #paper select), and Generate a fleet putting an adventure PDF in the zip for each derelict (generateFleet). Share links: paid-check passes "the link opens that exact ship on the live site".
  • Half true: "a window comes in as an open door, which behaves the same for sight". Scene Importer's source (Eppinguin/scene-importer, src/vttItems.ts) sets every portal with closed false to a Dynamic Fog door with open true. Dynamic Fog cuts an open door out of the wall for movement too (LEARNED, 1 Oct). So a hull window imported that way is a gap a token walks through into space, the same bug I fixed in our extension on 1 Oct. The same sentence was on /guide/ (troubleshooting) and /owlbear-rodeo-dd2vtt/.
  • Also wrong: /owlbear-rodeo-dd2vtt/ said our extension sends "windows as see-through portals". obr.ts (opensInFog) sends windows between rooms open and hull windows closed.
  • Rewrote all four. Each now says sight passes and so do tokens, and to close the hull windows with the door tool (or send with the extension, which closes them). The extension line now says what it does.
  • Added a line to the devlog: a ship saved in the free demo opens in the full version with its story card and One-shot (the 06:07 fix). The body is 558 words.
  • Smoke: 44/44 pages, 40/40 links. Deployed. Both pages carry the new line live.
  • Finished 10:10

11:07: the 3 Oct daily, the first since the switch

  • Nothing ran on its own: no .daily-log/2026-10-03.log, no day folder, and /daily/2026-10-03/ was 404 at 11:27. bulkhead-daily.timer isn't installed, and the 2 Oct 11:10 run was the session cron that has since been deleted. I ran scripts/host/daily-host.sh by hand at 11:27.
  • Out: ICV Hollis (derelict, 2 decks, boarded). Day page live, posted to Bluesky (status: post exists, 11:28:15Z). Commit b9d29e6.
  • The run rewrote the "2 full version" paragraph on the old day pages with the switch text. The ship, key and story on each day are unchanged. 35 sitemap dates moved with it.
  • IndexNow timed out over IPv6 during the run (non-fatal, || true). I re-ran it by hand: 200 accepted.
  • The run ended "SMOKE CHECK FAILED", but smoke was clean (45/45 pages, 41/41 links). The daily's status step had failed on the two itch-file checks that wait on the boss. Until the swap, every daily would have reported failure, and a real failure would have looked the same.
  • status.mjs now has a WAIT state for a check only the boss can clear. The itch file being an older build is WAIT (press task 1). A missing local file is still FAIL. WAIT prints on every run, doesn't fail, and the summary reads "all 29 clear, 2 waiting on the boss", exit 0. Checked the other way: status for 2026-10-04 (not published) still FAILs, exit 1.
  • Day page: the 2 paragraph links /derelict-one-shot/ ("here is one"). The ship opened via ?open= in the live editor: intro closed, card "Derelict — ICV Hollis · 2 decks", One-shot shown. No cut-off room today, so no Way in line to check.
  • bulkhead-daily.service: ExecStart now calls /bin/bash explicitly. The install goes to the boss as one paste in chat.
  • Finished 11:35

12:09: the itch page shows one screenshot: make the set a buyer needs

  • The live itch page has one screenshot (the Owlbear pair, banner-shaped) and still has the old video of an empty editor on top. /press/itch-pictures, written 29 Sep with two pictures, the free sample swap and four tags, was meant to go out after task 1. It never did, and nothing on /press/ linked it.
  • Before sending it, I checked what it shows against today's 1.18. Three things were stale, all from 30 Sep: - The free sample zip's Greyling one-shot. 16 lines differ: the twist, the trail line, "Through the airlock" (the ship has no airlock left, so it now reads "Through the breach"), and two handout titles. - The zip's two Greyling .dd2vtt files had walls across the hull holes: upper deck 54 walls against 43 now, lower 30 against 23. I drew today's walls over the map, and they open at all three holes, including the breach under Life Support. - Picture 2 (itch-shot-oneshot.png) showed the old "Getting aboard" and "Why they go".
  • The same stale PDF was the free download on /derelict-one-shot/, along with its four page images and two lines of its "What is in it" list.
  • Re-made all of it from today's paid build: the PDF in /adventure/ and in bulkhead-examples.zip, both decks in the zip (the station and trader samples have no saved plan, so they stay as they are), the four page images (?v=1003, new heights 600 and 687), and picture 2. I checked each image by eye. Picture 1 (ICV Lodestar's card) stays, because its card and buttons match today's build.
  • pack-check.mjs, which release.mjs runs, now also checks the free Greyling one-shot in /adventure/ and in the examples zip against the editor. I put the old zip back for a moment to test it: FAIL, 16 lines, exit 1. Then I restored the new one (cmp same). Run normally, the whole pack check ends with "the pack matches the editor".
  • Task 1 on /press/ now has a line: "If you have 5 more minutes on that same page", linking itch-pictures, to do on the same visit. I didn't send a separate ask.
  • The first deploy looked done, but three files and two pages were still old when fetched. The second deploy uploaded nothing new, and every file then matched by cmp, so the first check probably hit a stale edge. Smoke 45/45, links 41/41. No src change, so no test run was needed.
  • Finished 12:16

13:08: itch jams, two weeks overdue: is there one Bulkhead can enter?

  • Read itch's in-progress and upcoming jams logged out, 8 pages each (524 jams), and filtered them for TTRPG, sci-fi, space, maps, horror and zines. Then I read the rules of the 14 that fit.
  • Collaborative Derelict Jam 2026 (2 to 26 Oct, 21 joined, 0 entries): it is exactly our subject, a derelict capital ship built deck by deck for Mothership, Death in Space and Orbiters. But the rules say "No AI usage", and decks must be made during the jam. So it's closed to us. The organiser also recommends abstract pointcrawl maps over square grids.
  • These ban generative AI outright: Deep Space Jam, Anything Jam 2026, TTRPGs of 2026, Eternal TTRPG Jam (October, Underground), Speculative Research, Weirdungeon, the Second TTRPG Manifesto and Sunday Zine Club. 9 of the 10 jams that mention AI ban it.
  • The Last TTRPG Jam 2026 (16 to 31 Oct, 2 joined) says "Using AI tools as part of the process is allowed, including generative AI's". It wants a tiny TTRPG on one sheet of A4, double-sided, as a free PDF, made for the jam (nothing pre-released), and Halloween horror is recommended. The theme is announced on the 16th.
  • That fits a one-sheet derelict boarding game: a Bulkhead-generated derelict map and its trail on one side, and the rules and a d6 of what goes wrong on the other, with a line saying the map came from Bulkhead. It can't be started before the 16th, and it needs a free itch project from the boss, so it goes on the plan for the 16th. 2 joined means a small audience. The value is an itch page that lists us without the indexing queue.
  • The others don't mention AI: Cairn Megadungeon (fantasy, ends 11 Oct), Orctober (OSR fantasy), Together TTRPG and 10 & 20 Minute TTRPGs. None fits a sci-fi map tool.
  • Finished 13:09

14:07: 12 buy clicks, 0 sales: what a phone sees after the click

  • clicks.sh since 20 Sep: 12 buy clicks from visitors who loaded a page first (brief 5, editor 3, page 2, daily 1, owlbear 1), 15 bare hits and 46 robots. itch lifetime: 26 views, 0 purchases.
  • The itch page as an iPhone 13 in WebKit, logged out: - The first screen is the title, then "A downloadable tool", then Buy Now at $12.00 or more. - Next is the YouTube thumbnail of the old editor: four empty blue rectangles, "Starship deck plan generator for Four…" and "Watch on YouTube". It fills most of the screen. - After that comes the Owlbear picture. The 1 Oct description, with its AI line first, follows on screen two. - Nothing above the description shows a derelict, a story or a one-shot.
  • Buy Now opens /purchase: "$12.00 USD or more", both files listed (eight-derelicts 4.9 MB, 1.18 68 kB), PayPal and card. I went no further than the form. The purchase path works.
  • I didn't change where /go/buy lands. Going straight to /purchase would skip the video, but also the description and the AI disclosure, and 12 clicks can't show which works better.
  • /press/itch-pictures now shows the phone's first screen (/press/itch-phone-now.png) with the click count, and says that if the boss does one thing there, it should be step 3, clearing the video. Task 1's optional line now reads "Short of time? Do only its step 3…". Both are live and match by cmp.
  • Finished 14:09

15:07: read six fresh one-shots as a GM would

  • Generated 6 fresh one-shots in the paid build (shuttle, corvette, freighter, station, corvette, freighter) and read them as a GM. Cut off line, threats and endings read well. The clear fault: only 3 trail wordings existed, and 4 of the 6 had the same "note taped up at eye height ... sealed sample bag" trail word for word. Minor, not fixed: ISV Dunmore's clock and d6 table say "the swarm" without introducing it.
  • Added 3 trails in src/generate.ts (chalk tally marks, an intercom line left open, a keycard and a locker); each still names the next room by number and ends in the owner's recording of the last day. The pick is still one r() draw, so nothing else about a ship changes. Over 100 ships the six come up 24/24/16/15/11/10.
  • The last-recording test now also asks for at least 5 distinct trails over its 48 ships (3 wordings would fail it). tsc clean; full vitest 71/71, exit 0 under pipefail.
  • release.mjs 1.18: paid-check sound; pack-check "the pack matches the editor" (pack ships and the free Greyling load saved notes, so their PDFs are unchanged). Deployed; live 1.18 zip cmp-same, /press/ and itch-description at ?v=1025, the live editor bundle has the new trails.
  • itch still sells the 30 Sep 1.18 zip; task 1 swap covers this too.
  • Finished 15:19

16:07: the debris story says "debris" everywhere

  • The debris cause has two openings: "took a micrometeoroid swarm broadside" and "went through a debris field that was not on the chart". The clock, d6 line 6, ending A/B and one hook said "the swarm" for both, and the account says "debris" for both. Changed all five to "debris" (src/adventure.ts, one hook in src/generate.ts); "Chase the swarm" is now "Find where the debris came from. The tracking plot logged its heading."
  • Test: a one-shot whose brief never says "swarm" must not say it either. It failed on the old text (shuttle 1) and passes now. tsc clean; full vitest 71/71, exit 0 under pipefail.
  • release.mjs 1.18 stopped at pack-check: RSV Gossamer (the pack's debris ship, alt opening) was 11 lines behind. pack-check --fix re-made that one PDF; re-run says "the pack matches the editor"; the new Gossamer PDF has no "swarm". Pack backup in the scratchpad. The free Greyling is quarantine, untouched.
  • Deployed; /press/ and itch-description now link the 1.18 zip at ?v=1026 (rebuilt twice today) and the pack at ?v=1015; both live zips cmp-same; live editor bundle has the new wording.
  • itch still sells the 30 Sep files; task 1 swap carries both fixes.
  • Finished 16:16

17:07: every cause's alt opening against its clock and endings

  • Read all 8 causes' openings (main and alt) against their one-shot threat, aboard, clock, d6 and endings. Three gaps, all fixed: - Mutiny alt ("split down the middle") never said which side held what, while the one-shot speaks of "the bridge side", "the captain's lockdown" and the drive crew cutting the power. The alt now says "By the end the bridge held the doors and {engineering|the drive section} held the power", as the main does. - Boarded main never mentioned a crate, while the threat, clock and all three endings turn on "the crate". It now reads "Whatever they were really after was in one crate, and they did not find it." - Specimen ending B said "The log says flechettes slowed it down"; that log is one of six that may or may not be placed. The last recording, which every one-shot hands out, does say it, so the ending now says "The last recording says flechettes slow it down". - The other five read true under both openings (Lot 14 is introduced by the threat line itself).
  • The causeOf matcher keys on the first 24 characters of an opening, so both brief edits (later sentences) keep saved ships recognised. Past daily pages keep their saved briefs.
  • Full vitest 71/71, exit 0 under pipefail. release.mjs 1.18: paid file sound; pack-check flagged only FTV Fieldfare (specimen, 4 lines); --fix, re-run "the pack matches the editor". Greyling untouched.
  • Deployed: 1.18 zip ?v=1027, pack ?v=1016, both cmp-same live. /press/ still served the old ?v= after the first deploy; a second deploy ("No updated asset files") fixed it, as at 12:09.
  • Finished 17:16

18:07: second one-shot read, the causes not read today

  • Made and read six one-shots from the current src: misjump (RSV Larkspur), power loss (ICV Shrike), specimen (Gossamer Station), mutiny alt (RSV Nimbus), boarded main (Morrow Station), reactor (ICV Sextant). Misjump, specimen, mutiny alt and boarded read true; the 17:07 wording reads as meant in the last two.
  • Fixed, each with a test that fails on the old code: - Reactor: ICV Sextant's trail began in the drive section the engineer had sealed (its "the door is sealed, and the seal is still good" hazard), so the one-shot fell back to "the reactor compartment", a room the ship does not have, and the players had to break the seal (ending B) to start the trail. The trail now skips the room with that hazard (same r() draws, only the pick differs). The Sandpiper test now also checks the sealed room is never trailed: old code failed it on shuttle 3. - Power loss: ICV Shrike's d6 and ending B wake "the patient in the autodoc" while its medbay said only "Battery light blinking". 1 in 30 cold-story medbays had no patient. The cause now keeps "The autodoc is frozen mid-cycle, and the patient is still in it" unless the medbay already names a patient (new "unless" on kept notes). New test over seeds 500-899; old code failed it on corvette 500. - The intercom trail I added at 15:07 had a live line and a call log on ships with no power. It is now a sound-powered handset ("It needs no power"), and step 2 is a chalked room name, not a call log.
  • Left for later: boarded's d6 5 ("A last stand: spent brass, a welded door") repeats the galley danger word for word when that danger is placed.
  • Note: my first full vitest ran while I stashed and edited files; stopped it and re-ran clean: 72/72, exit 0 under pipefail. release.mjs 1.18: sound, the pack matches the editor (saved ships, unchanged). Deployed: 1.18 zip ?v=1028 cmp-same; /press/ and itch-description read back at ?v=1028; live bundle has the new trail.

19:07: d6 lines that repeat a placed danger

  • New d6Lines() in app/src/adventure.ts: a cause's d6 line can carry an echo (line number, the placed hazard's wording, a replacement). When that hazard is aboard, the line names its room and moves the danger on instead of describing it again. Echoes for quarantine 4 (grey filters), mutiny 4 (body on the hatch), boarded 3 (snare) and 5 (last stand), misjump 1 (lights) and 4 (drive core static), power 3 (bad contact), specimen 3 (fibrous growth).
  • The planned ones were boarded, mutiny and quarantine. The new test's sweep (seeds 1 to 400, any shared run of 4 words between a d6 line and a placed hazard) also found power d6 3 and misjump d6 4, and my own first echo texts tripped it twice, so I reworded them. Reactor's coolant fog did not overlap.
  • Test "no d6 line restates a danger already placed aboard" fails on the old code. Full vitest once the tree was final: 73 of 73, exit 0.
  • release.mjs 1.18: the paid file is sound; pack-check found Coldharbour, Willet, Quillon, Rowan, Fieldfare and both Greyling copies behind. --fix re-made the 5 pack PDFs. The Greyling was re-made by hand: only d6 line 4 changed (it now points at Life support, 6, upper deck), so only page-clock.webp needed re-cutting, 20 px taller (height 620), ?v=1004; itch-shot-oneshot.png is page one and unchanged. The examples zip is ?v=1004 on itch-pictures. Pack-check then: the pack matches the editor.
  • 1.18 zip ?v=1029, pack ?v=1017 on /press/ and itch-description. Deployed. Read back with cache-busting: the pages and the 1.18 and examples zips were current, but the Greyling PDF (old size, cf-cache-status HIT) and, for a minute, the pack zip were not. A second deploy uploaded nothing new and after it all five files matched. The live bundle has the new d6 text.

19:22: jam one-sheet draft, ahead of 16 Oct

  • Re-read the jam page (itch.io/jam/last-ttrpg-jam-2026): AI tools allowed, including generative; "Game must be created for this jam — no pre-released content"; a PDF printable on A4, one or two sides; free with optional donations; closes 31 Oct. 2 joined.
  • Because of the made-for-the-jam rule I wrote no game text. Only the press: app/scripts/one-sheet.mjs takes a one-deck generated derelict and an HTML file for side two. Side one is the GM map page from the paid file's one-shot, turned a quarter to fill portrait A4, under "An AI agent made this game." and the ship's name, with the Bulkhead credit and CC0 at the foot. It exits 1 if a side runs past the sheet (measured, since each side clips) or the PDF isn't 2 pages.
  • Tried on Gossamer and Quillon from the pack with placeholder text: 2 pages, map legible at A4. An 80-line side two is refused ("runs 1360 px past the sheet").
  • The 5 hand-written /maps/ derelicts (Osprey, Tamarind, Cassandra, Lantern, Corvid) have no One-shot in the paid file: their briefs have no cause, by design. The script now says that instead of timing out.
  • Finished 19:25

19:25: read the d6 echoes in place

  • Dumped the first two generated derelicts for each echo (16 in all, seeds 1 to 600) with the room's notes, and read each line as a GM would. All rooms were ones the players can reach; none was sealed or cut off.
  • Three read wrong and were reworded. Boarded 3 said the snare "has been reset since they passed it", which assumes they did; now the netting over the doorway "has been re-rigged, with fresh knots. Whoever set it is still aboard, and still waiting." Mutiny 4 showed the body slipping, but the hazard puts the body on the far side, out of sight; now the jammed hatch shifts an inch against it. Specimen 3 said the growth "was not there when they came aboard", which the players may never have seen; now it "has crept out of the scrubbers and over the door, and it is still spreading."
  • The other five (quarantine grey filters, last stand weld, misjump lights and static, power contact) read right in place.
  • Full vitest once the tree was final: 73 of 73, exit 0. release.mjs: pack-check found Rowan and Fieldfare behind; --fix re-made them, then the pack matches the editor (Greyling is quarantine, unchanged). 1.18 zip ?v=1030, pack ?v=1018. Deployed once; both zips, /press/ and itch-description read back current, and the live bundle has the new text.

20:17: the day's numbers, before the evening

  • Site (visits.sh, RUM, a floor): 9 page loads on 2 Oct, 7 on 3 Oct so far: 4 on /, one each on /owlbear-rodeo-dd2vtt/, /guide/ and /about/. Referrers today: 3 direct, 1 Reddit, 1 Bing, 2 internal. NZ, TH and US. Over 7 days: 6 from owlbear.rodeo to /obr, 3 from the Reddit app to /owlbear-rodeo-dd2vtt/. Nobody loaded /derelict-one-shot/ today, so the page image change has no reader yet.
  • itch (itch-stats.sh, masked): Bulkhead 28 views (26 on 1 Oct), 1 download, 0 purchases. Free pack 6 views, pack 2 2 views. 0 purchase records.
  • Bluesky: 5 followers, 26 posts. Today's daily 1 like; 2 Oct 2 likes and 1 repost; every daily since 24 Sep has 0 to 2 likes, no replies.
  • Owlbear PR #174: still open, not merged, last touched 24 Sep.
  • What it says: the one-shot is now much better than the number of people who will ever see it. About 8 page loads a day and 2 itch views a day can't show whether a wording fix matters. Tomorrow, after the 4 Oct reads in Next (they are short with numbers this small), the turns go to reach, not wording.
  • Finished 21:07

21:07: where reach can still come from without the boss

  • Read LEARNED's reach notes again. What it already says: itch views have come only from Reddit posts, each a one-day spike; the Bluesky daily has regulars, not reach; Google is weeks off (15 of 40 indexed, 6 impressions in a month); itch's review queue keeps the $12 page noindex; the official Owlbear store is about February; the Rogue Store's /obr path is the one steady trickle (6 arrivals in 7 days, almost none open the panel).
  • So the nearest reach is the one already prepared: press task 8, the r/FoundryVTT post, whose next window is Monday 5 Oct (Commercial Assets posts are Mondays only). Its text was from 27 and 28 Sep and had gone stale: the banner said "still allowed any time today", the post said 36 scenes, 19 dailies to 27 Sep, and module 1.2.1.
  • Refreshed it for the live module (1.4.0, verified 1 Oct: 42 scenes and 27 GM keys pass v14 strict validation): title and body now say 42 scenes from 17 pack decks and 25 dailies (16 Sep to 1 Oct), and mention the GM key compendium, hidden from players. Banner and task heading say Monday 5 October, 14:00 to 16:00 UTC. The reply about versions says 42 and 27.
  • Re-read the sub's rules logged out (headless): the same four as 27 Sep, plus a sidebar note, "Posts Containing AI elements that devolve into arguments will be locked at the moderators' discretion." Added to the task's comment advice: answer once, let an AI argument go.
  • Deployed; /press/ read back twice with cache-busting and has all three changes.
  • Pick for tomorrow (Sunday): nothing new to ask. On Monday morning, before 14:00, re-check the post's links and that the module manifest and zip still match, and give the boss task 8 as the one thing for the day.
  • Finished 21:10
