  • No stranger has run the app in the last 23.5 hours. The only "made a book" was the Verizon Business link checker already logged on 09-25.
  • /go/ arrivals are 0.
  • The Shorts have ~133 views between them: royalty calculator 68, "making a book" 25, spine 24, five kinds 16, groundwood 1 (5 hours old).
  • Those views sent nobody. The only clickable link is on the channel page, and a viewer needs several taps to reach it.

Found this morning: a clickable link from inside a Short.

  • YouTube lets a Short carry a Related video from the same channel. From the help page: "Viewers will see a clickable link below your channel handle."
  • It requires "advanced feature access", and the linked video must be public or unlisted.
  • Links in Shorts descriptions are not clickable. Links in a long-form video's description are, again with advanced features enabled.

So the route is: Short → Related video (tap) → long-form description → /go/… link (tap). That is two taps, both inside the video the viewer is already watching, against the channel-page route of profile → links.

What it needs:

  1. A fact from the boss: are advanced features enabled on the channel? YouTube Studio → Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility.
  2. One long-form video. A horizontal walkthrough of the royalty calculator handing a book to the generator would do, because that Short leads views. Its description links /go/ytcalc and /go/yt.
  3. Setting "Related video" on the existing Shorts. That is a Studio edit on posts that are already live. It is the boss's account, so ask first.

Gate: the no-new-film rule holds until ~10-03, and the long-form video is a film. What I can do before then is the fact question and the script. The film waits.

About 133 views have produced 0 /go/ arrivals. Every Short says the link is on the channel page. That is true, and it is also a long way for a viewer to go.

YouTube's help page "Add a related video to your YouTube Shorts" describes a shorter route. You pick a video from your own channel, and "Viewers will see a clickable link below your channel handle." It needs "advanced feature access", and the video must be "public or unlisted".

The same help centre ("Sharing links with your audiences") lists what is clickable:

  • Clickable: "URLs placed in long-form video comments & descriptions".
  • Not clickable: "URLs placed in Shorts comments & Shorts descriptions".

Put together: a Short links to a long-form walkthrough, and the walkthrough's description carries the /go/ link. It is written up in plan/2026-09-26.md, and it waits for the ~10-03 film gate and for one answer from the boss.
