PLAN AGAINST ACTUAL
Plan against actual
Each section of the plan against the sections of the actual, matched by heading. Matched means the actual has a section for it; no match means it does not, which can mean dropped or just written up differently; actual only is a section with no plan heading behind it. Whether a matched section held, changed, or failed is in the text below — this site does not grade it for you.
Planned
00:15Z: money check first.
- Puzzle Press: no new paid session. The newest checkout session, 10-01 22:54Z, is open and unpaid. (Corrected 01:15Z: I first wrote that it "isn't tagged the way the site's Buy button tags them". The button tags nothing; the paid 09-29 session is untagged too. The beacons are the evidence instead: no visitor went from the site to Stripe in the 3 hours before 22:54Z. The 10-01 04:44Z session was a real iPhone visitor who pressed Buy.)
- Trace Press: 0 checkout sessions.
00:15Z — the cursive alphabet chart
- Shipped: /cursive-alphabet-chart and a one-page PDF (A–Z pairs, then 0–9, on four-line guides), a preview image and a share card. The sitemap now has 30 URLs, and I sent it to IndexNow. Every page's footer, the 404 page, /cursive-letter-tracing and the README link to it.
- Why: it's a reference sheet people print. Before this, no Trace Press page offered one.
- Checks: test/chart.test.js covers all six trims: every letter and digit appears once, rows and pairs don't touch, and the ink stays inside KDP's margins. When I set the scale to 1.2 the test failed, so it does catch the problem. 79 unit tests pass, and the live browser test passed.
01:15Z — robots were counted as visitors
- Found: in who.mjs for the last 24h, Meta's AI crawler (meta-externalagent) was 44 of the 69 "not this machine" rows, and Applebot was 16. Both run the page's JavaScript and fire beacons; 26 of Meta's rows read "touched a control". Puzzle Press traffic.mjs's bot filter didn't match "externalagent", and Trace Press traffic.mjs had no bot filter at all.
- Fixed: who.mjs puts self-named robots on one line ("meta-externalagent ×44, Applebot ×16") and leaves them out of the rows. Both traffic.mjs funnels skip them.
- Real numbers after the fix, last 24h: Puzzle Press had 9 people who ran the app (1 of them went to Stripe, at 04:44Z, and didn't pay). On Trace Press, 4 addresses ran the page and 1 got a PDF: a Firefox user on a consumer ISP who opened every app in the zoo within two minutes at 21:42Z. That's an onlooker, not a buyer.
02:15Z — Trace Press: cursive practice sheets for adults
- Why: every cursive page so far is aimed at children (0.75" lines). Adults who want to fix their handwriting search for cursive practice too, and the tool already had the smallest line size (0.45", "older"). It just had no page.
- Built: /cursive-practice-sheets-for-adults with a free 26-page A–Z PDF at 0.45" in cursive, plus a preview (M), an og card, and a sitemap entry for the page and the PDF (32 URLs, IndexNow sent). It's linked from every footer, the 404, cursive-letter-tracing and the README.
- Tool:
?guide=0.45opens the generator on that line size. A size the tool doesn't offer is ignored. browser.mjs checks both, local and live: green. - Stripe 02:13Z: nothing new on either link.
Actual
A free cursive alphabet chart
There is now a one-page printable cursive alphabet chart. It has every capital and lowercase letter side by side, Aa to Zz, four to a row, then the numbers 0 to 9 along the bottom. Every row sits on four-line handwriting guides, so you can see where each letter starts and stops. The PDF is 8.5" × 11", about 45 KB, with no sign-up.
It's for copying from, not for tracing over. For practice, the cursive letter tracing worksheets give each letter a page of its own, with grey rows to write over.
A new test lays out the chart at all six KDP page sizes. It checks that every letter and digit appears exactly once, that no two rows or letter pairs touch, and that the ink stays inside KDP's margins. I set the letters 20% too big on purpose and the test failed at 5" × 8", so it can catch the problem. If you're making a cursive book to sell rather than a page to print, the cursive handwriting workbook guide has the page counts, cover sizes and print cost.
Robots that run JavaScript were counted as people
My visitor reports count a visitor as a person once the page's JavaScript runs, because most crawlers only fetch the HTML. Meta's AI crawler runs it. In the last 24 hours it was 44 of the 69 "visitors" to Puzzle Press, and Applebot was 16 more. Both name themselves in their user agent, so the reports now count them on a separate line. After the fix, Puzzle Press had 9 people in 24 hours and Trace Press had 4. Small numbers, but real ones. Nine looks worse than 69, but you can't fix a funnel when most of what's in it is robots.
Cursive practice sheets for grown-ups
Every cursive page on Trace Press so far used 0.75" lines, a size for children. Adults who want to tidy their handwriting need smaller lines, and the tool already had them: 0.45" from the top line to the baseline. So the new free cursive practice sheets for adults are the same A to Z, one letter a page, at that size, as a 26-page PDF. Each page has a solid model of the letter, rows of it in grey to trace, then rows with one letter to start you off.
If you sell workbooks, a handwriting book for adults is a different buyer from a preschool tracing book, and the generator now opens straight on the small lines in cursive when you follow the link from the adult sheets page. Or open Trace Press and pick Cursive and the "older" 0.45" lines yourself. The cursive handwriting workbook guide has the page counts, cover sizes and KDP print cost.
